The "Like" Factor....

Okay, I know this sounds weird and I may lose you at some point here, but bear with me...you very well may be in a relationship with someone you don't like....

There.

I said it...

And the fact is that it is entirely true...and it happens every day...

I know, I've been in several the most recent on lasting two years....yeah I told him I loved him...and yeah, for the most part I meant it...I did love him...I just didn't like him....at all...not even a little bit....

All of his habits, the way he did things, the way he moved and talked to me....made me want to shoot him on a daily basis....

You do not feel this way with someone you like....

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying this is a bad thing...on the contrary this blog is suppose to be going in a completely different direction......

In the direction of it is really okay to like someone......there is nothing wrong with it! When have we put so much emphasis on jumping straight to "I Love You" by doing so we've diminished the meaning of these words to the point we are basically saying "I Like You" when we tell our hopeful partner "I Love You".

Why do we do this? Consistently....relationship after relationship.....

A lot of times we jump head first into a relationship because it feels good...and we all want to feel good...let's face it and if we can get that feel good feeling from the affection of another person instead of intrinsically....we go for it....like me and Golden Corral's rolls and honey butter...it's going to happen and it's going to happen more than once...

The problem with this approach is we don't take the time to actually spend time with that person and to get to know them......

out of bed......

I am being serious....

Once you spend 6+ hours a day for more than five days with a person and you get a pretty good idea on if you're going to be able to stand them on a long term basis rather quickly.....this buffer period also gives you a chance to make sure that you are equally compatible with him....

This is a good way to determine if you are going to end up having homicidal dreams about that person on a nightly basis and end up having to spend hundreds of dollars for counseling just to keep yourself from following through with it and ending up with a script for Xanax and mood stabilizers.

So when did it become such an ordeal to actually like someone.....to just look at the person and say "I like you" and with those three little words you mean so much more...you mean that you acknowledge them as a person...that you recognize their faults....flaws...and silly little idiosyncrasies...that you value their strengths as well as weaknesses and that you value your time with me as the gift it is (never let someone make you feel like your time with them isn't a gift...it's a gift...your time is valuable and anyone you spend an extraordinary amount of time with that doesn't appreciate it....then you need to spend less time with them....)

I have recently been spending time with someone (see I told you this would make since eventually) and I Like Him....I can say it....I know what it means....I have spent I don't know how many hours with him just talking and visiting and telling stories.....I enjoy my time with him and appreciate the time he does spend with me because like me he is busy and I am humbled that he spends what free time he has with me....

I can say I like him and not bat an eye....does this mean I like everything about him? No....he has some habits that are annoying (who doesn't) but are so trivial in comparison to all the things I do like about him that they don't bother me as much as they would normally....and that is how it is when you like someone....the good out weigh the bad...and while you know there are some bad traits you just don't give a damn....cause you would still rather spend time with them when they are being annoying than not at all...

He has not (in a serious all jokes aside I really mean this) said it in return....and this is bothering me.....and I know that doesn't make a lick of sense...why should I care if he hasn't said it or not....just the fact that he is spending his free time with me and point a , b, c and the cat in the cradle and you can't compare apples and oranges blah blah blah....

It matters because after a certain point you have to know where you stand with a person....you have to know that you mean more than just a distraction....you have to know they LIKE you....for being you....for your quirky personality.....for the fact that turned up shirt sleeves drive you crazy.....for the fact that you are you and yeah, there is probably a something he'd change about you, but for the best parts he wouldn't change a bit....

A LETTER TO THE WIFE OF MY BOYFRIEND...a repost...

A LETTER TO THE WIFE OF MY BOYFRIEND

Cheating on you, he could live with. Hurting me, he couldn’t bear.

Dear Wife of My Boyfriend,
I’m not sorry.
I’ve done countless undeniably repulsive things — all without an ounce of regret. I kissed him on the stoop of your house while your birthday party was blazing in the backyard. I didn’t wake him when he fell asleep after sex, so he’d spend the entire night in my bed. I made sure (you don’t want to know how) he stayed over far longer than he intended to and had to rush home at 3:30 a.m. without showering first. He must have reeked of my scent when he walked in your bedroom door. I took pleasure in knowing that.
It all started at the exact moment you think it did: the night we double-dated. Remember the way he made me laugh that night, how that made you feel? Your instincts were right.
For weeks, I kept it a secret. But one night, after too many tequila shots, I finally confessed the affair to my friend May. She’s married. She hates me now. “How could you, as a woman, do something like that to another woman?” she said. Most of my married friends who are women had the same indignant take. Funny, my married friends who are men were all for it. They envied me.
It’s been a year now since your husband broke up with me. He didn’t do it for you, or to save your marriage. He did it because our relationship had reached a point that it was causing me more pain than it was bringing me joy. He knew he would never leave you and the kids. He knew how much it hurt me every time he kissed me goodbye to come home to you. Cheating on you, he could live with. Hurting me, he couldn’t bear.I never understood May’s assertion that there’s some sort of sisterhood I’m betraying. I don’t believe in a loyalty we all owe each other as women. I do believe that I owe it to myself to fall in love and stay in love for as long as is humanly possible. I wish someone else, in some other circumstances, had said it, but I actually agree with what Woody Allen said to justify schtupping his step-daughter. “The heart wants what the heart wants.”
You hate me, I know, and you always will. But sometimes I wish we could talk. I wish we could sit at a bar and I could explain to you why we did what we did. If we could do that, if you and I could get drunk together, there’s one story I’d want to tell you. Because I’m not a bad person, I’m not a heartless person. I would tell you this story because it might give you some comfort or satisfaction or sense of vengeance or, most likely, a combination of all three to hear it.
One night, I was walking down 8th Street and I passed the restaurant you two go to on Friday nights. I looked through the window of the restaurant and you were at the window table. I glanced over at a moment that was so impeccably timed that if it had been a movie scene, it would have been one of those “yeah-right” moments people in the audience despise. I saw the expression on his face — that smile, the way his chin was tucked, that slightly inebriated and unmistakably seductive glint in his eye.
What I saw that night caused me as much pain as I could ever cause you. I saw that he loves us both.

Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit
By Kelly McFadden
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
Summer is one of my favorite times of year. Not simply for the longer days and warmer weather, but also for summer fruit. I love going into the grocery store, seeing the produce aisle stocked with a smorgasbord of delicious, brightly colored fruit and bringing some home for my family to enjoy.

The book of Galatians talks about spiritual fruit. These “fruit,” love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are characteristics we hope for in ourselves but also look to receive from others. Similar to summer fruit in the produce aisle — these spiritual fruit are appealing and refreshing both when others encounter them in our lives and when we encounter them in others’ lives.

For Christians, the fruit of the Spirit comes in a complete set. When you believe and the Holy Spirit is working in you, others should see this fruit daily growing in you. Not just one piece, but all. It’s not like going shopping and picking out only two kinds of fruit; we get the party pack – all nine fruits of the Spirit. These are natural characteristics of Jesus that he gives to us through the Holy Spirit. They are fruit we should seek to grow.

A part of being a Christian means growing each attribute. We all have opportunities each day to demonstrate and put these fruits to practice. Each day, we can choose to display these spiritual fruit to others around us. The more we do that, the more those around us will see Jesus apparent in our life.

Botanical Gardens

I miss my membership to the Botanical Gardens....I think since it is starting to get warm again I will get it another one. It's only $40 for a couple.....totally do-able...this is one of the pictures I took last time I was there.

Silly things Couples do...

Dallas and I are doing our typical Saturday morning routine...him playing video games on his phone, my on Facebook, Pinterest and Blogging about all the cool DIY stuff I'm trying to save us money and make life easier....when I get the funny Boop that tells me I have a Facebook Message:

Dallas: Hi! I came across your page. I think your cool. Your pretty very pretty! Was wondering if we could get to know each other?

Now he does this all the time, and it is always cute as all get out...I mean, c'mon...your fiancee hitting on you via Facebook chat?

Me: Only if you bring me a bowl of cereal.
Then we'll talk.

And so Coco Krispies it is.....which was wonderful....exactly what the Dr ordered....if I had a Dr, which is another problem for another entry....

So, after making up a couple bottles of Gatorade in an effort to make me drink less Soda....

He comes back to bed with two plates...

Me: Whatever that is looks yummy....

Dallas: It's cheese tots and mini corn dogs...do you want some?

Me: (taking the plate of cheese tots)

Dallas: Hey! Leave me some! Be careful they're hot!

I eventually give him his tots back....and no I didn't eat them all....but I had to have a free hand to snag a mini corn dog or two...

So then Futrama...is over...and some movie starts...

Dallas: What's coming on?

Me: IDK, some movie (about the time the movie title flashes on the screen "Clueless", yeah sometimes I am)

Dallas: (steals the remote in the guise of wanting to hold my hand and proceeds to channel surf)

So now I am watching some Cop show set in Alaska and seriously thinking about going to look up how to make a dooms day device or something cool...

Or those deviled egg Peeps....those are awesome...

Who doesn't love a deviled egg that looks like a baby chick?

And now for your Random Picture for the day!

Come the end of today, I am exhausted! Had left overs with the family....Mom, Pops and I had left over spaghetti with hamburger bun toast......Hunny and the Brother in Law had quesadilla's and refried beans...all the while watching Resident Evil Retribution...
