10 Healthiest Drink Recipes In The World

10 Healthiest Drink Recipes In The World

10 Healthiest Drink Recipes In The World
Fill your body with extra vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants, boost your energy and stimulate weight loss and fight illness and allergies with these ten supremely powerful healthy drink recipes.

Lemon Water

Adding a squeeze of lemon to a cold glass of water is a super simple way to multiply the health benefits and add flavor. Lemon water becomes alkaline in the body and an alkaline body is better able to heal itself, assimilate nutrients and fight off sickness. Plus, lemon water helps keep skin clear and glowing, aids weight loss and kick starts the digestive system.

Dr. Axe’s Secret Recipe Detox Drink

This recipe from Dr. Axe contains a number of powerful health boosting ingredients. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid which helps to lower blood pressure, lemon juice regulates pH, cinnamon balances blood sugar and cayenne pepper boosts metabolism.

“Sassy Water” Detox Drink

This is another recipe that adds extra health benefits and flavor to plain old water. Lemons, cucumber and mint add vitamins and antioxidants – plus try adding some ginger for an even more potent health boost. This “sassy water” flushes out impurities from your body and it’s really easy to make!

Matcha Green Tea Super Drink

In a recent blog post, we revealed how incredible Matcha Green Tea is for our health – and this drink includes Matcha as its “hero” ingredient. This drink is an instant energy booster, metabolism booster, it fights viruses and bacteria, it boosts mood, has cancer fighting properties and helps to cleanse the body to name just a few of the benefits.

Allergy Relief Drink

This super simple recipe combines apple cider vinegar, local honey and water to create a potent allergy fighting drink. Local honey includes pollen from your local area, consuming this honey builds up the pollen in your body and gradually you become immune to it.

Super Cleansing Tonic

This certainly isn’t the best tasting recipe in this list with ingredients including apple cider vinegar, garlic, onions, hot peppers, ginger, horseradish and turmeric, but it is amazingly powerful for cold,  flu and sore throats. Plus it is a natural antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal, it boosts circulation and the immune system.

Ginger Turmeric Detox Tea

Ginger, turmeric and cayenne – three wonderful spices – work their magic in this detox tea. This is another powerful detox recipe, but also a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, migraine soother, digestive aid and anti-cold and flu agent.

Apple Cider Vinegar Elixir

You may have noticed that apple cider vinegar has feature in many of the above recipes and for good reason. It’s great for skin, digestion, blood sugar, it promotes vitality and much more. The only problem? It doesn’t taste great – but this Apple Cider Vinegar Elixir has been sweetened and improved so you get all the benefits but without the horrible taste!

Turmeric Juice

Turmeric is another ingredient that has featured heavily in this list. It is probably the healthiest spice in the world. Its active ingredient, curcumin, has been found to fight certain cancers, treat arthritis, cleanse the liver, improve brain function and much more.

Cinnamon Coconut Water Kefir

I was just going to include plain old coconut water at number ten – but then I found this drink that takes it a step further. Coconut water alone is a fantastic energy booster, helps deal with blood sugar issues, stops sugar cravings and aids weight loss. This recipe turns it into a fermented beverage and adds beneficial bacteria, enzymes, vitamins and minerals.

DIY room air freshener

DIY room air freshener

December 20, 2011 by Lauren- the amazing! @ http://www.theburlapbag.com/2011/12/diy-room-air-freshener/
(Check out our new ONLINE SHOP for The Burlap BAG!!)
We have two cats. They get stanky. And I refused to buy air fresheners. It turns out I already had everything I needed for a homemade and EASY air freshener! No more stank in our house.

What you need:
A container (we used these)
Baking soda
Essential oil
Foil (or a lid you want to ruin and poke holes in)
This gets really complicated so pay attention….
1. Pour baking soda into container, about 1/4 full. Pour in 8ish drops of essential oils.
Oh. That’s it. Just the one step.
Well, add a lid if you want. You could nail holes into a mason jar lid but I didn’t want to ruin one. I just covered it with foil and poked some holes. No one will see mine (it’s high up on a shelf) so it didn’t need to have a pretty lid. But make yours as pretty as you want.
Seriously the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Every once in awhile, go shake it so everything mixes and freshens the stinky smells.

Done.

(p.s. we’ve had a lot of people email us asking where to get those jars! here here!)

How to Make Deodorant Cream

How to Make Deodorant Cream via http://frugallysustainable.com/2013/06/how-to-make-deodorant-cream/

how to make deodorant cream by Frugally Sustainable
The skin is our body’s largest organ…
…and everything we put on our skin is absorbed into the bloodstream.
Today — with modern farming and mass production processes the way they are – be assured…there are so many toxic chemicals added to commercially-prepared body care products! Chemicals known to adversely affect the body’s immune system, reproductive system, and nervous system.
Years ago — around the time that I took the dive head-first into natural health — I started looking for alternatives to commercially-prepared EVERYTHING. Starting with locally-grown foods to medicinal salves to making my own shampoo…I found that where there is a will there’s a way!
Likewise, I immediately became curious about all-natural, aluminum-free deodorant.
My entire life prior, I had been an avid anti-perspirant user — the feeling of being sweaty just grossed me out – and initially it was all the correlations made between using that and getting breast cancer…that got the wheels turning. Then when my mother was diagnosed with, and won her battle against, breast cancer…I left anti-perspirants without hesitancy.
There are many reasons why we should be concerned about using anti-perspirants and commercially-prepared deodorants! Here are just a few:
  1. There are hidden dangers in the active ingredients of conventional deodorant (i.e. Aluminum, Parabens, Propylene glycol, Phthalates, and Triclosan). Current researchshows a strong link between anti-perspirants containing aluminum and Alzheimer’s, breast cancer, birth defects, allergies, and hormonal imbalances. These potentially hazardous chemicals have no place in our homes and certainly no place under our arms.
  2. Let the body do what the body will do! I believe that when we attempt to inhibit the natural functions of the body we negatively effect the rhythms created for a purpose. Humans were meant to sweat.
It was all of these concerns combined that led me to create my own solution.
Since then, I have created several natural deodorants that have been used by many with AMAZING success:
All of these are the traditional stick variety.
Recently — and after the request of several of you – my creative drive kicked in and I set out on a Deodorant Cream making mission.
Deodorant Cream Recipe
Ingredients
-2 ounces (approx. 4 tablespoons) shea butter
-2 ounces (approx. 4 tablespoons) sesame oil
-1 ounce (approx. 2 tablespoons) non-nano zinc oxide powder
-5 tablespoons arrowroot powder
-0.5 ounces (approx. 1 tablespoon) raw beeswax
-1/2 teaspoon non-GMO vitamin E oil
Optional Ingredients
***I love adding a few of these ingredients. They are optional — and add tons of odor-fighting goodness — but not necessary for effective use of this product.
-aloe vera extract
-comfrey leaf extract
-calendula extract
-essential oils of choice
Method
  1. Using a kitchen scale, measure the ingredients.
  2. In a double boiler or small pot, melt shea butter, sesame oil, and beeswax over low heat.
  3. Remove pot from heat and allow mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Add arrowroot powder and zinc powder. Whisk until all powders are dissolved and well combined.
  5. Add vitamin E oil, extracts, and essential oils (if using) at this time. Stir.
  6. Pour mixture to a sterile container — one such as these – and allow to cool on counter.
  7. Label product and store at room temperature. Shelf stable for at least one year, depending on quality of ingredients used.
To Use
Using fingertips, apply to underarms daily or after showering. A little goes a long way!
Notes
-Zinc Oxide. For safety’s sake, be sure to use only non-nano zinc oxide. Zinc oxide powder is not only a sun protectant, but an antioxidant that is able to soothe, protect and help heal the skin. Likewise, it contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal propertiesNon-nano zinc oxide is not absorbed by the body and has been proven to present a very low risk to human health.
-Sesame Oil. For centuries, this oil had been widely used as healing oil for all sorts of health problems. Its’ quick penetrating, highly-stable (low risk of rancidity), anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory properties make it best suited for all skin types. Used topically, common skin invectives such as staphylococcus and streptococcus can be easily eliminated by the regular application of oil on the skin.
-Beeswax. Beeswax – one of nature’s most incredible raw materials –  provides a superb germ-killing, protective barrier for the delicate skin under the arms.
Where Can I Get This Stuff?
-Mountain Rose Herbs…they have everything you’ll need for this remedy! I LOVE the quality of their oils and essential oils. It’s your one-stop-shop!
-The Bulk Herb Store also carries a few of these ingredients if you’d like to price check.
-From Nature With Love likewise carries a HUGE selection of high-quality raw materials.
I do have this Deodorant Cream available for purchase in my Etsy Shop.

How To Make Homemade Blush

ViaV

Keep in mind that with all makeup there is a continuum of “what works” for every individual. This is especially true when we start making things like bronzer, blush, or foundation. What works for me may not work for you. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to adjust and adapt this recipe to work with your skin tones and desired outcome.
With that in mind, you should probably know that I’m extremely pale. And I’m not a huge makeup person. Therefore, my blush of choice is light and subtle. So rather than give you an exact recipe, I’m giving you the jumping off point to find your perfect shade. Are you ready?

Gluten-Free Recipe: Pesto-Mushroom Fettuccine

http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-9414/gluten-free-recipe-pesto-mushroom-fettuccine.html

This was a dish I invented after seeing something similar at The Conscious Cafe in Byron Bay. It's super healthy, so easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious (as many of our friends who've had it will tell you).

My hubby has now claimed this as his dish. He likes to cook for friends and family, and we love to cook together with a glass of red wine and a chance to catch up on each other's day.

Ingredients:
  • 30 small mushrooms of your choosing
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • Chilis (as many or as a little as you want)
  • Mixed herbs of your choosing (try thyme, rosemary and parsley for starters)
  • Coconut oil
  • 1 red onion
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • Frozen peas
  • 16 oz. Mung Bean fettuccine
  • Pesto (jar or fresh) to taste
  • Option to add Chicken (free range tenderloins), cook on bbq or grill if possible
Chop onion into small chunks and fry with some coconut oil.

Add the mixed herbs and fry together; add the garlic and chilis and cook for another five mins.

Add mushrooms, chopped in half (keep them big and they'll absorb all the flavors). Cook for another 10 mins, then add pesto (around half a jar or pot, can add more later if it needs it), add 2 tablespoons.

Cook it all together for 15 minutes, then add frozen peas and baby spinach near the end. If you want to add the chicken, cut it in small pieces and add to sauce.

Boil fettuccine for 5 mins, then drain and add to pan, stir and make sure the sauce covers everything. Grate Parmesan on top and enjoy.

How To Make A Solid Perfume Locket...

This is a fantastic tutorial for making your own solid perfume with a sensual, seductive aroma and only natural ingredients. Plus it can be stored in a beautiful locket which gives it an almost antique like feel. This wonderful tutorial comes to via (http://www.designsponge.com)
Creating your own solid perfume is extremely satisfying. One of the joys of having a solid fragrance is that you can easily carry it with you, or even wear it on your body in a locket, without worrying about it spilling. I like to make perfume in small and beautiful containers that grow more precious and treasured with use. You can enjoy the experience of applying a solid perfume unobtrusively throughout the day in an earthy and sensual ritual that is quite different from dabbing on a liquid perfume. Solid perfume will scent only you, not the environment around you.

Materials
  • 1 1/2 tsp. jojoba oil (available at whole foods and natural grocery stores)
  • 7 drops frankincense essential oil (you can get some of Mandy’s essential oils here)
  • 7 drops of ylang ylang essential oil
  • 5 drops fresh ginger essential oil
  • 6 drops wild sweet orange essential oil
  • heaping 1/2 tsp. grated beeswax (available here)
  • eyedroppers (available at drug stores)
  • small nonmetal pan for melting wax
  • shot glass or small cup
  • small compact or pillbox for finished perfume
Instructions
1. Pour jojoba oil into the shot glass. Add the drops of all four essential oils to the jojoba oil and stir.

2. Melt the heaping 1/2 teaspoon of beeswax.

3. Remove from heat and stir in the jojoba/perfume blend.

4. Reheat for just 10 seconds, stirring.

5. Immediately pour the mixture into your container.

6. Let cool undisturbed for 15 minutes.

Southern Creamy Pralines

This is a very old family recipe that we have been using since my great great grandmother. It was originally made in a cast iron dutch pot. We love it and there is no other recipe as rich as this one. Pralines are a big part of our Cajun family and we make them all the time. I know you will enjoy this as much as we do.

3 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 quart pecans

Combine sugar, buttermilk, corn syrup and salt in a very large pan (it will foam considerably when soda is added) and bring to a nice rolling boil. Add soda, stir and cook until soft ball is formed when dropped in cold water. Then remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat until color changes and candy thickens. Stir in pecans. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. (DO IT FAST before the candy hardens)

Mango Salsa Recipe

One of my families favorites is Mango Salsa. It is easy to make and you can put it on chicken breasts, talapia or even shrimp tacos!

Prep time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
1 ripe mango, peeled, pitted, and diced (about 1 1/2 cup) 1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
1 Jalapeño chile, minced (include ribs and seeds for a hotter taste if desired)
1 small cucumber, peeled and diced (about 1 cup)
3 Tbsp fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
3 Tbsp fresh lime juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Also good with diced red bell pepper and jicama.
Method:
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. If the salsa ends up being a little too hot or acidic for your taste, you can temper it by adding some diced avocado.
